PITCH "think-tank" seminars are organized by PITCH members, who invite members of the PITCH Honorary Committee or persons identified by the Board of PITCH to provide a closed audience with updates on international technological cooperation, and the development of the global information society.
The Prime Minister’s Advisory Council on Science and Technology of Canada calls upon PITCH to nominated panelists for an event organized in Toronto on September 10, 2003. Prof. Jorma Routti , the Executive Chairman of CIM and affiliated to PITCH, participates, and provides feedback on the Canadian innovation system in respect to other models world-wide. The Council’s role is to review Canada’s performance in research and innovation, identify emerging issues of national concern, and advise on a forward-looking agenda with a view to positioning Canada in an international context.
International cooperation and information society strategies in Romania are the issues addressed at a seminar organized on March 24 and 25, 2003, by Prof. Doina Banciu, a member of PITCH, with the support of SIVECO Romania S.A. Industry representatives attend, as well as ASIeR, Academician Prof. Florin Filip, and other members of PITCH. Meetings follow with Dan Nica and Marius Macovei, respectively the Minister and the General Secretary of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies.
Dr. Thomas Yoon, Vice-President of the Korean National Computerization Agency invited PITCH to organize a seminar for his staff as well as to scientists in Seoul, on January 17, 2003. Prof. N. Kemal Pak, President of Tübitak, the Turkish National Science Foundation, had invited PITCH to send a delegation to meet with Turkish senior policy makers on March 11, 2002, to discuss the future of scientific relations between Turkey and the European Union. Two Honorary Members of PITCH, Prof. Fernando Aldana, Spain former Director General for Innovation, Science and Technology, and Prof. Peter Tancig, a former Minister for Science and Technology of Slovenia, were to constitute this PITCH delegation. Tübitak has consequently asked PITCH to provide food for thoughts about how best involving the Turkish research community in co-operation projects with Europe. Upon the invitation of ASIeR and Prof. Doina Banciu, both members of PITCH, Michel Bosco chairs a workshop to discuss international cooperation strategies in Romania on January 19, 2002. The participants include Minister for Research Serban Valeca and Academician Prof. Florin Filip, Honorary Member of PITCH, as well as industry representatives and Marius Macovei, General Secretary of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies.
International technological cooperation is key to the growth of national economies, as well as to the business development of multinational, or international companies. PITCH members discuss "Why governments and large businesses should engage into international technological cooperation?" at the annual meeting of the world-wide (over 20 countries) SAP managers of T-Systems in Stuttgart on March 1, 2002.
PITCH is one of the NGOs selected for an interview in the context of the MIPS study, which is to provide a guide to best practices and a manual for implementing technological innovation processes in the Mediterranean countries. Several PITCH members contribute, including Youssef Nusseir, Fernando Aldana, and Faruk Eczacibasi, Honorary Members of PITCH, and Julio Guzman, Jean Yves Roger, and Michel Bosco, founding members of PITCH.
